Volunteering
Become an Indiana County Humane Society Volunteer
Volunteers have a vital part in keeping our shelter operating. Need exercise? We can train you to become a dog walker! Feeling stressed? Petting and brushing a purring cat can be wonderfully calming. Need to add to your resume? Do office work such as answering the phone, data entry & greeting visitors. Do you want to help but can’t make it to the shelter? We always need help organizing or working for fundraisers. We are especially in need of volunteers at our Sunday night Bingo games! If you have a special skill, let us know. There is likely some way we can use your help.
Volunteers are needed for these activities:
- Dog Walking (Dog walkers & kennel cleaners must be at least 18 years old)
- Kennel/cage cleaning
- Cat Socialization
- Office assistant
- Fundraising/ Special events
- Newsletter
- Public Relations
- Local & Long Distance Transport
If you wish to volunteer, download and print a volunteer application.
There are two different applications — One for IUP students and one for others. Fill it out the appropriate application and bring it to the shelter along with ID and proof of any health insurance you have. If you prefer, you can also pick up the application at the shelter. There are two pages to each application. Be sure that you print both pages and sign the waiver on page two. Thank you for your interest. We look forward to working with you.
