Attention
Due to the number of animals under our care, the shelter’s financial struggles, and only having one trained and sworn in Humane Police Officer who is also our Shelter Manager, the Indiana County Humane Society is unable to take on any new Humane Investigation cases. Our shelter animal family and staff are extremely important to us and at this time we will be focusing on the wellbeing of our shelter as a whole.
We are still able to discuss your concerns and provide referrals and other resources.
If you have a TRUE animal emergency, please call your local police or State Police who can both enforce the state animal cruelty laws or call 911.
Please call your county’s State Dog Warden regarding the following situations: strays/animals running at large; dog bites/dangerous dogs; concerns with puppy mills, breeders or kennels; rabies vaccines or dog license checks.
You can also contact your local code enforcement or ordinance officer to ask about spacing limitations, or types of pet restrictions, etc.
The Indiana County Humane Society staff is working non-stop to keep our animals happy and healthy. We do not feel that it is humanely appropriate to take in more animals when the shelter does not have the space or finances to care for them. At ICHS, we treat each animal as if it were our own and want to ensure our animals get the proper care and attention they deserve, and we are proud to continue to be a No-Kill shelter where we can provide a safe place for animals to stay until they find their “Furever” homes.
